Evolution

Overview
Evolution was a collaborative design laboratory facilitating interdisciplinary experimentation in dance performance. Choreographers from the Department of Theatre and Dance joined with concert and event lighting designers and composers from the School of Design and Creative Technologies to create short dance works for the concert stage. I worked with 2 choreographers from the Department of Theatre and Dance to brainstorm and develop a complex musical piece paired with choreography. Our performance was entitled “Artist’s Playground” with the concept of a central dancer (representing an artist) and their dynamics with different colors (each dancer representing a color). The music, to accompany this concept, was developed with synesthesia in mind. Each instrument in the piece would represent a color, with the respective dancer/color moving to the flow of each instrument.
